Would you??

Friday I met with some people at our local community college, they help with local businesses and I’ve been on their “list” for a while, but something over a week ago, made me reach out and ask for help and they said they’d be happy to help, I wanted help with marketing etc. and we had a great meeting- we talked about website, mailing lists, teaching etc. I do a lot of these things but not a LOT, so it was a good guide to get some suggestions and feedback about this!

Anyways, here’s my question to you (and I might figure out a way to do it thru mailchimp too)

#1 Would any of you be interested in me teaching an online class?

if so, what should it be about ? obviously quilting, but do you want it to be a step by step on making one of my quilt patterns (maybe one you CAN’T buy at my store right now? or just some tips and tricks over all, or a technique?) Do you want a short or a long class?

#2 Would you be interested in buying “KITS” with one of my patterns?

#3 Would you be interested in a “club” of some sort (subscription) – I’m doing designs for love-sew for the charm pack club so I don’t want to step on any toes there, but I’m thinking something “different” not like quilty box either, maybe a table runner club? Maybe pieces already cut out or not? or just the yardage and pattern in there?

I’m just brainstorming, but I figured I’d ask YOU, my readers what you look for?

  1. I really don’t buy kits or subscribe to monthly subscriptions, but MANY people do. I like videos on special techniques, things to make it easier, even tools that do that. For example, I’ve made dozens of tote bags, but recently learned how to SIMPLY attach the lining to the tote, a very clever way and easy to do. Making gift items, another thing I like to see. Zoom doesn’t interest me, but videos do when I can watch when I want to. Hope this helps.

  2. As I’ve noticed in an AccuQuilt FB group that there are frequently quilting newbies who bought AccuQuilt products, but have no idea how to sew a 1/4″ seam, nor nest a seam, or read a pattern, I think you may want to consider offering a virtual beginning quilting class with a focus on AccuQuilt (yet open to those who cut with rulers too).

  3. I’d like to see a tutorial on everything about half-square and quarter-square triangles: cutting, sewing, trimming, and pressing. I like the look but they still drive me crazy – mainly keeping the block square while pressing. Also, please not on Facebook or other social media. Not everyone is a fan of those nor does everyone have an account.

I’ve loved following you on Facebook. But I had to leave that foram . Accuquilt is my go to tool. I am not a club joiner or buy on line. Getting emails or watching UTube is my source of info. Working on my ufo’s and scrappy quilts are on my plate until next year. Skill share is another foram out their too! Looking forward to seeing what you do next. And may be tempted to try or buy your line😊

Your recent quilt-a-long would have been great with a video tutorial of each block. Especially, things like block GG in Jumbled, where the diamonds go together to make a star. Everything else with Accuquilt has beautiful corners to know how to connect easily and with overlapping ends just fried my brain. I do one packaged kit per month. Sometimes it’s part of one overall quilt, sometimes it is mini quilts or small projects. I do this to learn to do things I would not normally do. Your Jumbled really challenged me to think outside the box. I love it!

Anyway, to bring this back to your business plan, most videos are free and the money is made in the kit or pattern or fabric sold. I watch videos all the time, but I don’t pay for videos, but I buy things brought up in videos I like. And having a kit WITH videos it a bonus to buy that kit over others.
