wonky house blocks, blue runner and some little tea bag holders

Yesterday in the mail I got 2 more wonky house blocks!

aren’t they cute?

and look at the bird! sooo cute. The “maker” of the block wrote that I could rip out the bird if I didn’t like it…. oh no!! my daughter even squealed at the cute bird when she saw it : aww what a cute bird, mommy! , so NO, it won’t get ripped out 🙂

I can’t wait to get more houses and make mine too

y

At Pine tree guild meeting thursday, we did a round robin thing where different people showed different techniques, I demoed EQ7, the lady next to me was showing these cute pouches for tea bags.

I’m not the type to carry my own tea bags when we go out and being an EX-waitress, I always thought it was in a way rude for the people to do that and just ask for hot water, which I couldn’t charge for. But okay maybe for a friend’s house or a church function or something like that I can see…. ANYWAYS…

here’s one opened up, my daughter picked out the fabrics and it uses a pony tail eslastic and a button.

super easy to put together, less than 30 min.

Now I googles TEA WALLET and saw other ones with a fabric tie and a fabric button that were really cute too.

I had to make my son one too of course (I put the elastic on the wrong side though, but he didn’t care)

here is his pouch opened up

and clever idea for ninjago things!

This morning I woke up determined to quilt something from the top of my 2012 list and this blue runner was calling out to me to be done.

On the outer border I did a feather all the way around in dark blue, the inner border I did a curve I call kind of a corn stalk. I actually did all the blue first and then rolled the quilt backwards and did the white. I quilted a dense meandering in white on all the blocks and it really made the hand applique stand out and be more puffy. When I did the blocks I also used ricky tims stable stuff for the applique parts and soaked the block over night so there’s still some fibers inside it to help with the puffy-ness, almost trapunto looking.

here’s the whole quilt. it’s 24″ x 66″ just missing the binding, which I JUST added and need to hand sew to the back

a few more close ups of the quilt

my daughter wanted to take a picture of me in front of it.

The shirt reads Soo much fabric, sew little time.

I got it from a quilt store in fuquay varina NC at a quilt show, I believe it’s called quilter’s nest, the owner is really nice! I’ve just spoken with her at shows etc. still haven’t made it down to the store.

Those houses are too cute! Part of me wants to ask about how you get into all of these quilt block swaps, but I know there's no way that I could participate right now.Your tea bag holder looks to be about the size of a business card too, and those could be very handy!

  3. I love the houses! The bird is TOO cute! You are an inspiration! All that you do! and stay so organized too!

Your blue and white table runner is wonderful – love the applique! I like your tea pouches. I have the green diagonal striped fabric – so I am partial to the green pouch. And. . .I love your wonky houses – so cute! Don't you just love crossing out those things on your UFO list? I have one too. 🙂

Bea, I just finished your bee block but now I'm wondering if you specified that you wanted some 'ground' under the house – and I didn't do that. I can add it though, if I need to. Take a look at the Wonky page and let me know if I need to add some grass or something 🙂
