wonky block, customer’s star quilt, berry batik squares

I’ve had two great days home to sew and quilt!

are you surprised?? LOL

I got fabrics in the mail for another round of the wonky block swap, the pattern was this funky star! it went together rather quickly and especially since it’s just one!

so it’s on it’s way back again.

Today I finished a customer’s quilt, this lovely star quilt, I think she said it’s mostly out of a jelly roll!

I waited a while before putting it on the frame, since I wanted to do something special, but also stay within her price range. I had the idea for the corner to corner curve on the star parts but then couldn’t decide if I should do a meandering filler and do the same on all blocks or not, once I got going I knew the filler would look great on all the blocks.

here’s a front view

the borders, I did the same corner to corner curve and the parts that were near the edge I tried to stay away about 1/4″ so it wouldn’t be covered by the binding.

Yesterday I finally got these batiks from fabric.com

it’s a pattern I designed and have on sale at craftsy, but the sample is just an EQ sketch, so I figured I HAD to make a real sample first 🙂

It is 50″ square and took me about 4 hrs to sew together last night! a pretty easy pattern.

here’s a close up of the block

  3. I love your quilting choices for the star quilt. I think your customer will really be pleased. Your quilting really adds to the design. I'm surprised you got the batik quilt done in just four hours! So industrious! The colors blend so nicely!

  4. I'm so amazed at the quilting….it's just beautiful. I hand-quilt most of mine, and have been starting to FMQ my small projects. I can understand your customer's issues…price is what has kept me from having someone else work on mine. Maybe some day! The results certainly are lovely!
