Won something

I was super excited when I got an envelope from McCall’s

-no it wasn’t magazines for me-

I had WON something on sewcalgal’s blog

This cool quilt with 50 blocks representing the 50 US states!

My husband really liked it too and asked if I’m doing it in patriotic colors!?- that he’d like that!

Of course…. not so much creams and reproduction fabrics though, but more bright blues and reds, and navy with maybe some gold, haven’t decided yet, not sure if I should just JUMP in now or do one per week in 2015, I kind of think that if I don’t start soon, it’ll get put on a shelf and I’ll forget about it.

(BTW they are in alphabetical order on the front, so you can count your way to your state- NC is the red tree near the bottom left)

If you want to purchase your own pattern, it’s here

and I see I have some threads coming my way from aurifil too- don’t know if I ever tried those yet!

Oh and another red/ white quilt book Smile

  1. That would be fun as a block of the week! I like your bright color scheme idea too. Hmmm, I might be playing along…

  2. Oh, so tempted to buy it, but I know I'd never make it. Want to make it for me too :)Maybe I could gift it to my mom and talk her into making it for me next year. How's that for a 'gift'?

  3. Glad to know you received one of your prizes from the Year of Red/White Challenges and that you like it. So many different blocks that it seems that pattern could enable a variety of designs, but how fun it would be to make a quilt with all 50 blocks.SewCalGalwww.sewcalgal.blogspot.com

  4. this looks a big challenge we will enjoy following your progress on this one

This would be a fantastic sew-a-long project. If you don't use the Colours of each State for that State's block then R/W&Blue would be great, I think with so much action in the blocks though that the stripey border is too much, it's only my opinion, but I think it makes it look cheap when you need classy.

  6. Ohhhhh that's fabulous. I say jump right in! LOL! I can never keep myself from getting into too many projects at once! Can't wait to see yours come to life.

  7. Congrats looks like that one will be fun. Can't wait to see it when you finish 😬
