The women of the bible quilt is finally done!
As you may know it’s my 3rd version of this pattern!
The pattern from from patterns of faith, don’t know if that site is still up or not.
anyways, last weekend we have a visit from Gwen, who is from Singapore and studied at UNC for 4 yrs for her bachelors, then went back to Singapore and is finishing to be a medical doctor!
The 4 years she was here, she’d often come visit for the weekend and then come to church with us, she became part of our family!
(Of course I gave her a UNC quilt back then too, but now her medical is actually thru DUKE! – big rivals in sports here ha ha)
So when she came here (she’s here for a month doing a class at Duke) I told her to pick another quilt and I had a feeling she would be drawn to this one, as she’s commenting on anything I make in batik and this quilt was on the long arm and almost done being quilted AND it’s women of the bible!
So of course she can have it!
So I’ve rushed to finish it up so I could give it to her this weekend
I quilted curves from corner to corner on each block and bubbles on the sashing.
Very happy it went to Gwen!
(and all these were made with Island batik scraps from the last 4 years! though I did ask for the black yardage to go with it)
-and no I’m not planning a 4th! at least not any time soon!! ha ha
I think 3 is enough, the first one I made with 8” blocks and gave to my pastor’s wife.
The 2nd one I made with 3” blocks (call me CRAZY!)
and this one is with 6” blocks (what the pattern actually calls for)
I might take some of the blocks and make quilts with just that block repeated as there are several I really like, but there’s also several I didn’t NOT like!
What a beautiful quilt! 3 is a charm, right? Each one you made is so different from the previous one – your fabric choices are great!
Beautiful work Bea, I'm not sure which is my favorite!
The batiks are stunning. Sad to say the women of the Bible site closed down in December. She had done it for 10 years and said it was time to end.
All three of your women of the bible quilts are beautiful.
All of them are lovely! Glad it now has a home where it will be appreciated.
It turned out so pretty. I love all the color. I think this newest one is my favorite. Nicely done.
