Sonja turned 11 Monday and Saturday we had a party for her, she loves this book series called Wings of Fire and so does her friends, so we planned a dragon themed party.
Solveig drew the dragon on our chalk board for Sonja
The day before we made a cake and frosted it, then Sonja had printed a dragon outline and cut it out, then she added to the top of the cake, after it had been frosted and dried up a little bit, so maybe 5 min later, we pressed down the edges really well, we could tell the corners of the paper had a wet look, then she shook red dusting sugar all over it
Then, her and Anja blew up and brushed off the excess sprinkles/sugar
Then carefully lifted the paper and I dusted some sugar on the sides of the cake, it looks awesome!!
It was too hot to be outside so we created a painting station upstairs in our school room and had also printed dragon scenes as inspiration, though I don’t think anyone followed those, they just had fun painting.
We had pizza for dinner but as a snack before we also had themed snacks- totally inspired by pinterest!
Goldfish crackers were seawing prey
Potato chips were dragon scales
Leftover Easter eggs filled with candy were dragon eggs
Bugles were dragon claws
Animal crackers were skywing prey
She got lots of nice presents, I bought her stuff to make more dino masks and fur etc, Bjorn and Solveig and Anja also made or bought gifts for her.
overall it was a nice party, Bjorn is turning 21 next week but he has no plans or wants to do anything, he’s busy with new job and new house, so…..
That last photo is soooooo precious! Happy birthday! 🙂
Oh, that’s a fabulous series! I haven’t had enough of it yet! What a cool cake and birthday foods. You are all so clever. Bjorn is too old for that, too cool, no doubt. On to more adult things, like setting up his apartment. =) Happy birthday. Sonja, just a little late!
