I LOVE threads from Connecting threads
I’ve almost loved the idea of using 100% on EVERYTHING in my quilts, the fabrics are cotton, the thread is cotton, the batting is cotton. This way they wear down at the same rate over time.
I both sew with cotton thread and I quilt with cotton thread, I know a lot of long arm quilters like poly threads because it’s not so linty but I like cotton.
For my sewing machine I almost always sew with white thread and I always have 2 cones at a time
Because when the bobbin runs out, I can just rewind it and use the 2nd spool/cone of thread for that and don’t have to un-thread the whole machine!
I do use colored threads but not as much as plain white, the vast majority of my colored threads are from connecting threads!
My husband made these letter spool holders for me years ago and we were going to sell them online but the small dowels take too long to trim and sand…. But anyways I love my initials on the wall. Then I have some little plastic thingys that hold the matching bobbins behind the spools.
When I add binding to a quilt I find a matching thread color and either match the binding or the quilt border color, then I grab the spool and matching bobbin(s) from the holders and my already prepped binding bundle.
I have 2 bobbins on the holder because my JUKI uses a metal bobbin case and my Janome uses plastic bobbins (I use the Janome for fancy stitches, because the Juki is “just” a straight stitch work horse!)
Like I mentioned, I usually buy the white Essential thread cones from CT
(where I buy 2!)
Another set I really like is the Salt and Pepper set
