When an idea turns bad then good again.

I had this great idea for a new leader and ender project…. I have lots of white/beige fabrics and had this idea in EQ

triangle scraps

So I got out my 8” QUBE and lots of scraps, at first I cut the large white triangles, then the small triangles in white and solid brown and then lots of other scraps, but after cutting the other small triangles I didn’t think it would look good, so I put them aside and instead cut them out of scraps of black

at first I cut the small HST blocks

and then added the small black triangles

and then added the large white triangles, and when I ironed them I sorted them so show the right side up and some on the left that didn’t matter.

Then I put them on the board like this and really liked it!

and as you can see it never became a leader and ender project, I just kept going!

I was then playing with different border ideas in EQ but didn’t have enough of the brown left and didn’t want a white border, so I had enough of a black print for a solid border and actually since I made the black 3 1/2” the top is now 42×50 so the same black is 46” wide and I had 56” left so perfect for the backing! (and I planned the brown for binding too which is already cut out and made)

I think it was a fun top! but hardly put a dent in my scraps!! ha ha. oh well…

So still on the search for a leader and ender project! Now I might join the rainbow color of the month, like I did two years ago, we’ll see…

WOW! What a great top just from tinkering with squares. Now you've got to quilt it and not add it to the UFO pile. Love the scrappy look..

  2. It is always amazing to see how wonderful scrap quilts come together. And don't cha feel so good using some up even if it didn't dent it-how the heck does that happen, LOL

It really turned out nice. I know what you mean about scraps. The pile seems to get bigger no matter how much you make from it!
