What should I start?

I feel in a bit of a rut, I think it’s because we had the excitement of Sonja (and Bjorn’s) birthday party this weekend, then also starting school this week- the homeschool room is just missing a desk but I use this folding table for now, Bjorn leaves for Wingate today too!

Dan finished making this chalkboard and it’s been covered with artwork, but then Saturday afternoon, after the party I cleared it all up and started looking at the books and folders etc for school.

I printed out little name tags for the girls- so the students can get to know each other! LOL

once they saw those, they started coloring the signs and Sonja finally started getting a bit excited for school to start, otherwise any time we mention the word SCHOOL, she starts complaining and whining and saying she hates it, but I think it’ll be more fun with Anja too!

It’s hard to tell but I wrote Rules on the left

1. I love you

2. Be nice

3. No whining

4. I LOVE YOU!

With Sonlight curriculum there’s also a memory verse so I wrote that down and added a letter of the week for Anja and I also got a state book and will read about each state, sometimes 2 per week, we’ll start with the oldest (when they joined the union) so this week is Delaware! Both Kindergarten and 4th grade curriculums include American history, I’m looking forward to that!

Back to my “problem” of being in a rut, I realized that it’s because I have hardly any yardage!!

I really only have yardage on 2 shelves, the bottom of the two on the left is for 0-.5yds, then next to that is .5 to 1yd, the shelf above that is 1-2yds and then next to that is 2yds + and there’s only black left! So I see why I’m in a rut!

(Don’t worry, I tried to rectify that and actually placed 2 fabric orders- I already forgot what it was, but mostly just chunks of fabrics I liked, solids and fun things and CHEAP just to stash- no projects planned)

and I have 4 or 5 tops waiting to be quilted!

my scrap bins are full so this is where you can help!

what should I make? What colors?

something NEW or one of my existing patterns?

Here’s my “scrap friendly” patterns:

Beach Bum

Sweet Dreams

Honor a Veteran

Shuriken

Never ending story

Midnight Stars

Contained

Interlocking leaves

Shelves full of yarn

What do you think??

  1. I took Ricky Tims’ Kool Kaleidoscope Class online (it’s free through thequiltshop.com) and used only fabric from my stash. It does require some yardage but because I used pieces of fabric that I liked, with no real “theme” involved, it’s very scrappy and I love it. I have it ready for layering and quilting now. Just and idea!!!! How can I send you a picture?

  2. Looks like you have 2 tubs of neutrals, so use those as background fabric, then make something fun and scrappy. American history can be lots of fun.
