What a quilt looks like after 8 years of LOVE

Here is what a quilt looks like after 8 years of LOVE!

My first quilt ever made, when I was pregnant with my daughter.

The borders are gone and so it most of the binding.

It’s been patched together several times and those are the only parts that are left of the corners and border

I don’t know WHAT is holding this still together, it must be LOVE!!

and it’s Sooooo soft 🙂

I’ve given my daughter other quilts since this one but she won’t let go of this one.

I’m saving bits of fabric that have fallen off, maybe I’ll stuff those inside “something” when this thing falls apart completely and she needs something as a replacement.

We’ve been telling her we’d get a shadowbox and put this in there while it’s still somewhat intact, but she won’t let us do it, she still sleeps with it. SIGH!! 🙂

I’ve been working on the foundation blocks for Quilt it today, rows are done and I’m sewing those together- can’t show 😉

  1. I understand why she doesn't want to give it up yet but I'm sure she'd be more upset if it shredded into tiny bits. Perhaps if she actually made her own replacement, she'd be more willing to use it and save the bits of the 1st one for the memories.

  2. We have 2 or 3 quilts that are like this one. I'm going to put them inside other quilts. My youngest chose the colors for the one that will replace his massively holey quilt and his old quilt will be used as "batting" with some warm and natural on top of it. The finished product will be a little lumpy (I've done this before) but then he can have his well loved quilt in a new loved quilt to sleep under. 😀

  3. I have two that need to be replaced. You have an aweseome list.Go ,you can and have fun!

  4. Poor little tattered thing but so well loved! We have a few of those in our family, too. My youngest DS is in his 30's and still has his 'binky'. CONGRATS!, Bea. Just saw one of your quilts in McCalls magazine!! WaHoo. Nice!!!

Oh, it must be sooo nice to see something you made so loved! x

  6. That's hilarious! I thought I had a tattered one. Love the fact she won't let it go.

  7. How wonderful to have a quilt you've made loved so much! I made my son a quilt several years ago, he's only just started sleeping with it on his bed.
