Do you ever envision a quilt and then when you make it, it wasn’t quite what you expected?
I started off with this EQ sketch and waited for just the right fabric to come along.
Then recently I bought 1yd of this NC fabric and thought it was neat and would work as the “white” on the quilt.
So I noted that on the sketch and then I found a dark blue solid I thought would work for the sashing and then a tan print and a darker tan/brown print and I thought it would work, but that dark blue is just too dark and my husband commented too that the brown looks like baby poop or puke- thanks Babe!
and for some reason when I quilted it, it got way crooked at the bottom and it’s a small quilt! It’s only 34″ x 34″!
So I ordered a set of “red snappers” as I had those on my old frame and the pipes on the frame are MORE flexible than my old frame with had conduit pipes, they did NOT flex at all, even if you leaned on them! So hubby might need to figure out how to replace the rods- it’s just a Lowe’s purchase, but to make the end plastic things fit in the rods might be tricky….
here’s a closeup of the quilt, I quilted a gridwork type of design in blue thread.
The back is dark blue as well.
Maybe this quilt is what put me in a quilting rut the last few days, I just don’t want to look at it! so in the donation pile it goes, I had wanted it for baby shower I’m going to this weekend, but I don’t like it, Maybe I’m too picky?
I also thought of turning it into a pattern, but now I won’t… Maybe another time if I make another quilt?
Sometimes one of our quilts doesn’t turn out as expected. Sorry. Good luck with that pattern next time.
