Tutorial Tuesday EQ7 Coloring Page to trace

beaquiltersEQ7tutorialtuesday

Did you have fun last week?

I know I did…. and it really made me think about TRACING images.

It’s not something I’ve done a lot of… I was thinking of something to trace, I’ve read somewhere how someone traced a coloring page from a coloring book, so I figured I’d google it and I was thinking of Hello kitty

so I found this page

and downloaded the hello kitty here

I started a new block with easy draw +patchdraw

image

Under the tracing tab I imported the image

I used the free motion draw tool and drew around the head and then the shape button/tool to tweak it

image

I then added nodes and tweaked some more

image

Then free motion drew around the arm

image

once you click the mouse button it smooths it out

image

again tweaking it and adding more nodes

I made it a little bit bigger than the lines because as an applique it will be BEHIND the body and head

image

I copied and pasted another arm and flipped it for the other side

image

I did the same with the sleeves

image

I decided to do the whole body as one piece

image

Now on to the shirt

image

I often go back and forth to the color tab too to check how it looks and change what needs to be forward or backward

here the head need to go forward and maybe tweak the ear

image

Here I tried to color it ( I know Hello kitty’s shirt is not purple usually)

image

Then I worked on the bow

image

and now the face

Here’s the block all done and colored

hello kitty block

Wouldn’t this be a cute pillow?

Now I left the whiskers and the bottom by the feet, I feel that once you applique it you’d add those lines of in the quilting.

If you ever traced an image in EQ, I/we’d love to see it.
