I showed on instagram and facebook already how I got this turtle pincushion pattern in the mail!
(Thanks Darlene @ quiltshopgal)
Of course I can’t just make ONE! I figured I’d make 3 and create an assembly line!
So I found 2 sets of batiks and 1 set of my favorite color – blue cotton!
and a few hours later, these little turtles were done!!
One is made with scraps of batiks from a secret project I made for Island Batik
-This one I stuffed more with crushed walnut shells than the rest
Then using some leftover beach batiks (from the churn dash quilt I designed for Island Batik) I made this one and it’s stuffed only with fiber fill.
and lastly this blue one is stuffed following the directions more closely, lightly in the limbs and half crushed walnut shells and fiber fill in the body/shell.
I did NOT use fusible fleece on any of these, as I don’t have it and figured I didn’t want to bother with batting either.
They look great as they are!
Then they started playing around!!
and almost played the kissing game!
Such fun little creatures, I’m glad I got the pattern and it was fun and easy to follow!
Have you made these?

Such cute pincushions. The fabrics are great.
Adorable honu (Hawaiian for turtle) pincushions. Total #CreativeGoodness. And I absolutely love the batik fabrics you used. I'm curious how many different pin cushions do you now have in your collection? You do such a great job tackling such tiny projects and they really are lovely pin cushions.QuiltShopGalwww.quiltshopgal.com
