In July I grabbed my Trip around the rainbow pattern and then thought about doing it truly scrappy and TINY!
First I wrote down which scrap bins were overflowing the most and then figured out which ones in the pattern used the MOST fabric and figured out a “rainbow” flow of the colors AND then I got out my 4″ QUBE and cut out a ton of 1 1/2″ squares!!!
I used these as leader and enders/ in-between projects and eventually had enough of the nine patches done!
Then I finished the top and it’s just SO much fun!! because I tried to NOT have the same fabrics touch, some some teal/turquoise and light blue are VERY close to each other and same with some blues. Then I had to pick a border too.
I picked a yellow inner border and dark green mottled outer border
The quilt measures 36″ x 42″ and I quilted it with a design called Modernish by Intelligent Design
I think the quilt is great and fun and scrappy!! and those tiny pieces!!!
I used the last of the cow spring fabric for the backing as a WOF worked perfectly!
You can find Trip around the rainbow here on sale for $8 until 8/31!!
(the blocks are bigger in the pattern than I did)
