My husband doesn’t like to celebrate his birthday much, at least not a big party of anything.
Today he’s turning 50 years old!
I’m married to a 50 year OLD MAN!!
Ha ha….
I LOVE this guy so much! may not show it enough, but he knows it 🙂
We’re celebrating at home I think with a Danish Layer cake for dessert.
Here’s how I make it:
A box (or two if you’re making it big!) of yellow cake mix, make the cake according to the box, I prefer a round pan, then after it’s cooled, slice it into pretty thin layers, I try to get 4 layers total.
Then Vanilla pudding from a box too and make that.
Raspberry preserves
whipped cream (whipped)
and the secret ingredient is Cherry Wine called “Kijaffa” I get mine from a wine store, it’s a dessert wine
Start with a bottom layer of cake, then drizzle kijaffa generously on it, then cover with a layer of raspberry preserves, and then the vanilla pudding, then another cake layer and continue and just drizzle the top layer with kijaffa.
Then cover the whole cake with shipped cream, I do a crumb coat first then use a pastry bag and make it a little fancy.
I’ll show pictures once it’s made!
50 years young, I would rather say. Have you heard it: Life begins at 50, at least as I see it. Ok, maybe it was 40, but never mind. Have a beautiful day together, and please send greetings from me to him. He looks like a happy man, but no wonder, he’s got you!
aww thanks! I just have to rub it in that he’s 50! since I’m 41! ha ha
Happy Birthday to Dan. That cake sounds delicious.
thanks! I’ll add the whipped cream today and upload a pic later
Happy 50th to your wonderful hubby. 50 years young is a wonderful age and opens the door to a stage of life that just keeps getting better.
Thanks!
Happy Birthday. That cake sounds delicious.
