Teal and Orange Pineapple Block

If you follow me on instagram and FB, you’ve seen my progress on this pineapple quilt already!

@bealeequilter on instagram

This quilt was made with the pineapple block from accuquilt which makes a 10” finished block

I’ve made a scrappy version of this for Accuquilt, but recently I just wanted to do a teal version, I got out my scrap bin of teals/ turquoise scraps, then I just thought orange would be a nice color to go with it and sure enough it’s the complimentary color!

I used the pineapple die and cut out enough scraps for 12 blocks and I decided to have the corner triangles and center square in off white

then I went to work! sewing the starting orange triangles to the center square, I love how the dog ears are cut off so it’s SO easy to line up!

here’s the 12 starting blocks

and after all the corner triangles are added

then adding more teal pieces- again the dog ears are cut off and match up perfectly!

The key is to really press well after each seam!

It was fun to show all these progress pictures of FB, people were really excited!

and keep going

and finally the corner triangles!

Then I added a 2 1/2” border in teal, so the top measures 34 1/2” x 44 1/2”

Here’s the quilt all done, I found a large scrap in a white and orange floral which I used for the binding.

I quilted a pointy swirl all over and straight lines on the border

The backing is leftover of the border fabric and more of that floral orange print.

the pineapple die is so much fun!
