Starting rainbow blocks and more

I must be bored, as I decided to re-join the rainbow color of the month

March’s color is green, so I got out my green scraps and ironed and cut

I used my QUBE sets and I also printed some FPP patterns

I managed to make a few blocks

and I don’t like the elephant, and the LeMoyne star I cut wrong I folded each fabric when I cut it out, but I kind of like this look so we’ll see…

then a leaf block is pretty plain.

This week’s QAL block is sister’s choice and I really like that block, so I made another block in green and I might keep this one

I also finished this mosaic block, I like it better in person… I kept one part grey and will try in the other colors too and see before I decide.

Now I might take some of my scraps still and cut out shapes with GO dies, for just scrappy projects like a tumbler or wedge, or something simple like that! we’ll see

I also decided to use up my log cabin scraps from the magazine quilt I made recently and I got 3yds of black from Connecting threads in my last order. And cut out the pieces using the Log Cabin die from Accuquilt of course Smile

and I realized how it doesn’t waste much at all! if you lay the fabrics down without folding it and cut out, then the left over fabric you flip and it fits perfectly!

no waste!!

and here’s my bin with the left over strips and the black ones!

I was able to cut out 30 sets (for half the blocks)

Here’s my idea so far with the log cabin blocks

(the border might change, I’ll figure it out when the top is done)

log cabin black

I’m getting on the way with the blocks Smile

This week Dan has been moving his parents into independent living in our town, it’s 8min away from us, and pretty much between the elementary and middle schools, so easy to get to!

Don’t my in-laws look young?? Winking smile

Beautiful blocks. Sounds like a great place for your in-laws. So nice to have them close by. Please let me know what moisterizer they use. I need to get some to help me look younger. LOL!

  2. You are amazing…I don’t know how you manage to get so much done! I like all your green blocks, such fun to play some times. And the log cabin will be great. Thanks for sharing.
