When Carol had a call out for the Wish Upon a star blog hop, I jumped right on it, AND I had just won this FQ bundle by Riley Blake from her! it has a small print, at first I thought it was tiny stars on it, but it’s tiny Xs…. anyways we’ll just pretend they are stars
I also knew which pattern I wanted to use, my Nighttime by the river pattern that’s a star within a star block!
My pattern has a cutting chart for rotary cutting and also for fabrics that are directional… BUT I figured out that I could use my 12” and 6” QUBE sets and since the fabrics aren’t directional at all, it was fast to cut out this way!
Then I stacked them and followed the directions of swapping out fabrics.
and sewed the blocks together
I only used 16 FQs
at first I tried to lay the blocks out by writing down numbers on a piece of paper so it would be very mathematical
But that didn’t work, so instead I sorted the blocks by the background color, if it was light or dark (of course some are relative) but I made sure I had 8 in each pile, then I alternated the blocks and made sure they didn’t touch the same fabrics.
I ended up using a pale green for the backing and binding.
and, as I often do, I quilted curves from corner to corner on the blocks.
I had a few scraps leftover and decided to make this little purse pincushion and I have that as a giveaway, including the
nighttime by the river quilt pattern!
To enter, answer below which star pattern is your favorite and enter the raffle copter!
