This was a quilt pattern I made for a quilt for Generation Q (green diamonds)  a few years ago and I wanted to turn it into a written pattern and also changed it to be more of a planned scrappy version.

It’s now called A Bag full of Diamonds and until Sept 1st, I’ll have it as a free download here

I tried to do more custom quilting on this one, some echo quilting around the “diamonds” and then sort of a flame pattern, then curves and swirls on the side borders.

I used scraps of batiks for the backing and added a purple strip down the middle.

here’s some shots of it outside Smile

and with the green diamond quilt I still have from Generation Q

I will have this pattern for FREE here until Sept 1st

We’re also sharing a summer snack and I’ve shared this recipe before once on my blog but make these ALL the time, they are SO good!

Oatmeal energy balls.

IMG_20160224_122957040

2 cups rolled oats (we get organic ones locally)

1 cup raisins

1 cup crunchy peanut butter

2/3 cup honey

2tsp vanilla

roughly a cup of chopped pecans

maybe 1/2 cup of coconut flakes

MIX them all together in a kitchen aid, let the bowl sit in the fridge for at least 30min then take out and with a spoon, spoon up a spoonful and roll into ball and put in an airtight container (I keep mine in the fridge)

They are REALLY yummy!

  17. Yum! I love purple. Such a soft, warm feel to your quilt.I'm working on my very first quilt using Island Batiks–so far, I'm in love! I won a beautiful navy, green, grey and cream bundle for their SuperBowl giveaway a while back, and I'm using it for the Summer Solstice QAL at happyquiltingmelissa. I think working with curved piecing with the batiks will be easy!reillyr2(at)hotmail(dot)com

  21. How many times have we described the water at the beach as shimmering like diamonds? A perfect inspiration source, and a great way to reinterpret an earlier pattern…very nice job!
