Welcome to the Seaside Summer hop with Island Batik
A while ago I this beautiful bundle of fabrics
Lovely browns/purples and browns then greens and blues!
This was a quilt pattern I made for a quilt for Generation Q (green diamonds) a few years ago and I wanted to turn it into a written pattern and also changed it to be more of a planned scrappy version.
It’s now called A Bag full of Diamonds and until Sept 1st, I’ll have it as a free download here
I tried to do more custom quilting on this one, some echo quilting around the “diamonds” and then sort of a flame pattern, then curves and swirls on the side borders.
I used scraps of batiks for the backing and added a purple strip down the middle.
here’s some shots of it outside
and with the green diamond quilt I still have from Generation Q
I will have this pattern for FREE here until Sept 1st
We’re also sharing a summer snack and I’ve shared this recipe before once on my blog but make these ALL the time, they are SO good!
Oatmeal energy balls.
2 cups rolled oats (we get organic ones locally)
1 cup raisins
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
2/3 cup honey
2tsp vanilla
roughly a cup of chopped pecans
maybe 1/2 cup of coconut flakes
MIX them all together in a kitchen aid, let the bowl sit in the fridge for at least 30min then take out and with a spoon, spoon up a spoonful and roll into ball and put in an airtight container (I keep mine in the fridge)
They are REALLY yummy!

Yum! I love purple. Such a soft, warm feel to your quilt.I'm working on my very first quilt using Island Batiks–so far, I'm in love! I won a beautiful navy, green, grey and cream bundle for their SuperBowl giveaway a while back, and I'm using it for the Summer Solstice QAL at happyquiltingmelissa.
