I love rainbow quilts and I have several patterns which are rainbow colors.
One popular one is my Genesis 9:16 pattern
Recently I was going thru my old patterns and I decided to try this one is SCRAPPY colors and NOT in the typical rainbow colors either, so I wrote down which scrap bins were overflowing or pretty full and I lined those up in a “rainbow/ombre” order
And then I started sewing them together, it was a total experiment!
Plus I used the 4″ QUBE set, so the pieces were tiny!
After the blocks were done I follow the pattern and laid out the blocks from the center and out.
If I knew that I needed 4 of the same blocks I tried to make sure the fabrics were right side up by thinking they were turned 4 different ways.
The top ended up being 36″ x 44″
I just LOVE how it turned out!!
I used some leftover coffee fabric for the backing and the light green binding was some I had made for another quilt but then made 2 sets of binding for that quilt so I had this green one leftover, already made and it was a perfect fit!
If you want to try the Genesis pattern, get it here, it’s on sale for $8 this week!
Here’s some more pictures for inspiration!
Oh, Bea, I love this quilt.. When things quiet down in your house I would love to do this together as a block of the week. I bet it would be a great size using the 6″ Qube. (However, I do have the 4″ Qube). I really like the browns, blues and greens together.
Truthfully, I love when you do the block of the week. I am excited every week to work on it. I’m not as interested in a block of the month, I get bored with waiting and I forget what I’m doing or what I had planned or picked out. Anyhow, I’m hoping this will be your next block of the week (with the purchase of the pattern).
Thanks, Shelly
I love both the scrappiness and the colors of this quilt. I love scrappy anyway but the colors you chose are just so satisfying!
I love this pattern in rainbow colors. How can I get the accuquilt instructions?
