I’ve shown teasers on instagram and facebook about this quilt in the making, it was fun to just use scraps and sew for fun!
I think it all started with the grey and white string quilt I made recently here
and still my grey scrap bin was still overflowing, my yellow was pretty low, but I figured I’d manage 😉
I got out my “chimney sweep” die fomr Accuquilt and you can see I marked on there that you need
2A and 1B of shape A
6A of shape B
2A and 2B of shape C
12B of shape D
and 4B of shape E
in my case fabric A is grey and fabric B is yellow and I cut enough to make 12 blocks!
Here’s pieces enough for 12 blocks
construction of these went easy and fast!
Once the blocks were done I put them on my design wall and asked IG and FB which layout looked the best; one where they all go one way
or this where every other block is flipped?
The layout facing the same direction won!
I also added 3 1/2″ grey borders and I quilted it with this large panto of a feather design called “sally design” and moved the rows below it over a bit on each row
This feather design was really fun
for the backing I used a yellow print with blue green flowers on it, it seemed to go well with it!
and the binding is a polka dotted yellow
The quilt measures 37″ x 47″ and I have it listed in my Etsy shop here
There is just something cheery about a yellow and gray quilt. I have fabrics for one and just can’t quite put my finger on a pattern I want to do it in.
This is really pretty! I don’t do much with yellow but I’ve come to really like it.
Beautiful quilt Bea and a great choice of colors!
That is a fun scrap block and I love the quilting pattern you choose – do you know its name?
I love the title of the quilt and the colors you selected it. In Germany if you kiseed a chimney sweeper
it brought you luck.
Oh that’s funny! the block name is called chimney sweep and it was super easy with the die!
