RSC19 sampler mini block

Angela over at soscrappy

is not only doing the monthly Color of the month QAL that I follow

but she’s also doing a mini block QAL with 4.5″ finished blocks!

She asked a while ago for block designers and I jumped right on it, I wrote down my date and then FORGOT all about it!

It wasn’t until 2 weeks ago I looked at my calendar that I realized I had a block to make up the next day or maybe it was 2 days later and I had a bunch of stuff going on, so I emailed Angela and told her I could come up with a block but didn’t have time to make it, but instead she suggested that I push out my block to today and that was a big relief!

Now having a 4.5″ block kind of seems odd, but it’s really a 9×9 grid or 3×3 grid or whatever you want!

So I played in EQ8 a bit and here’s a modified Shoo fly block

I call it flower shoo fly block

Here’s how to make it

Cut (2) 2 7/8” squares in white and blue and diagonally into
(4) triangles

Cut (4) 1” x 2” white rectangles

Cut (4) 1” x 1” yellow squares

Cut
(1) 1” x 1” blue square

Sewing: (Iron seams open)

Sew (4) blue and white 2 7/8” triangles together.

Sew
(4) yellow 1” squares to ends of 1’ x 2” white rectangles

Sew rectangle units together with HSTs to make blocks and
sew the 1” blue square in the middle with rectangle units.

Finish
block

It’s a cute and fun block, try it out!
