RSC16 orange blocks

The RSC16 color for April is Orange, and of course I couldn’t help myself from diving right in.

I actually did a TEST block as I just got this die from Accuquilt- Rob Peter to Pay Paul and I had an idea to add a 4 patch inside first, it ended up being a bit crooked, but I got it figured out now! that’s why this block is a test, so I might do this block in the future months!

The first set of blocks I tackled where the double flying geese blocks

7 of them!

This is what they might look like in a quilt with the other blocks

Then I was able to make a hunter star block

I didn’t get to make a brown one last month- I might go back later and use my yardage, we’ll see.

My original idea was to use sashing in between the blocks, but I kind of like them close together like this!

Then I was able to make 4 triangle in a square blocks like these.

I was supposed to make 6 OR less, so less it is!

Of course I had to make an orange cupcake too and tried to have this floral print be at the top to add an interesting design!

Then 3 each of 6” snowball crumb blocks and nine patches with solid whites.

Lastly I finished the two log cabin blocks, one half neutral

Here’s the 8 blocks so far

THEN I have the final idea for this quilt! a 5 x 6 layout and the space in between with be half of TWO colors!

(I won’t know which two until all 12 colors are made and I have them side by side)

But that’s my plan so far!!

Now what??

I kind of want to do more but only have tiny scraps left again, as orange is not a color I use much either, just like the brown and purple….

as you know all these are made with accuquilt dies!

Maybe I should just actually work on UFOs!!?? LOL

I have a quilt pending from your first block. I am using the accuquilt die cut (that is a huge help). I have orange in my block also.

  2. It's only the 5th of April and you have all these blocks done?!?!?! They are all wonderful! Love the cupcake, the flying geese, the log cabin, the hunter star………….you get my point, don't you? I LOVE them all. I'd better get busy, I haven't even looked at my orange stash!!

So many fantastic blocks here…such fun scrappiness! I love the look of the Hunter star blocks together!

  6. How delightful a post. I think the hunter star blocks right next to each other make them look so cool, like they blend right into the next one. I have the triangle in a square die. I like the pattern you created. I will have to try this. All your ideas are so helpful to others deciding what to make.

  7. Wow! That's a lot of blocks already! What are you going to do the rest of the month?!

  8. I like your Hunter Stars next to each other too. And it's fun to see how different those triangle blocks look when you change out the light and dark. Accuquilt, huh? Wow, maybe I need one.

  9. You really have a lot of great projects in the works! Your orange blocks are looking great!

Amazing production for the first week of the month. Lots of lovely orange. That print with the little colored balls is the same on I'm using in my Dpg Park quilt, which is in the quilting stage. I also like the blocks touching.

Those Hunter's Star blocks are beautiful! I'm going to have to figure out how to make them!

  12. Wonderful orange scrappies! My favorite are the hunter star blocks … 🙂 Pat
