I’ve been busy making more RSC rainbow blocks (blue) with my GO cutter and lots of different dies.
Here’s some more!
After I made 1 of each, I sketched out in EQ7 what I think a quilt will looks like in different rainbow colors.
Here’s winding ways
Here I’ll make 5 or less of each color for a fun layout like this
here’s a 3” triangle in a square that I made 4 of and turned into this 6” block
and a layout with 42 blocks so about 6 blocks each
an ohio star block
here’s a simple layout with 2 of each color for 10 months
then a Snail Trail block
simple layout, because the block is 12” finished so 12 blocks would be a nice lap quilt still.
Log cabin blocks, one all in one scrappy color, another with half in neutrals.
Haven’t decided on a layout of this one yet, blocks are 12”
Here’s all my blocks so far
The flying geese I showed before I ripped apart and just kept together 2 and 2, and if I make about 7 of each color, a layout could look like this.
The hunter star will look like this
and flowering snowball blocks
and look! doesn’t look like I put even a dent in the box!
I have my thinking cap back on and more GO! dies to use.
Maybe applique, maybe more with another color/base for other blocks, maybe using the 8” qube I just got…. lots of ideas and still many more days left in the month!
As you may notice, some the designs I have cut off at less than 12 colors, I want to not be overwhelmed in December with all these quilts to finish, so I thought it would be a good idea to have some stop a little early.
we’ll see
Beautiful blocks xx
Thanks for sharing all these great blocks. Can't wait to use my Go! with my scraps and trying some rainbow type blocks.
Isn't it wonderful to be able to "audition" colours and settings digitally before ever cutting into any fabric? Love your ideas! I'd want to make them all 🙂
You will have lots a beautiful rainbow quilts at the end of the year.
So many wonderful blocks! I've always wanted to make a Winding Ways quilt. Those darn curved seams have kept it off the list so far.
Wow. Just Wow. First, I love your 3” triangle in a square blocks. Your placement of dark-light and orientation (points in instead of out) makes them look like spinning stars, which I like even better than the maltese-flower look. And every other idea is great too! You are going to have some great quilts at year-end.
So fun to see all your different ideas, and especially ideas of how you might lay them out for a whole quilt. I don't have EQ7, but it looks so helpful for planning out a quilt.
SEW many options!!! You've come up with some wonderful design layouts.
Incredible ideas! Thanks for sharing.
You are going to have so many beautiful quilts!
Good plan to stagger the completion times . . . too many at once is definitely overwhelming.
