When SewCalGal announced this blog hop, I jumped right on it!
I actually have never made a true red and white quilt with those two colors only! – I need to change that…..
As you may know, I’m also doing an Accuquilt monthly Challenge,
so I figured I’d play with some accuquilt dies in EQ and see what I come up with
First I opened a file I had already created for the MIX and MATCH dies
and came up with a few ideas.
Here’s a simple one with just HSTs but depending on how you turn them, you get a completely different look.
How about a red and white bow tie quilt
And a calico cat quilt
And here’s an apple core quilt
the apple core shape is not in EQ but it’s easy to duplicate to design a quilt, of course making the quilt, you’d use the die.
But let me show you briefly how it’s done.
First you want the block to be 6 1/4” x 6”
(the website says it finished 6 1/4” here)
Then you select the arc tool
and draw an arc from top left to top right corner
then bottom right to bottom left
to get this
add to sketchbook and create a new quilt that’s 6 1/4” blocks
and fill this block in it
Hold down the ALT key and rotate every other block by clicking on the 2nd block and the rotate block button on the right
Now pick the color you want and again click ALT and the paintbrush tool and click on the white curved area of the 2nd block
now select a white and color the inside part of the 2nd block white again by holding down ALT and clicking
VOILA!
Hope you liked some of these designs, EQ is SEW much fun to play with and design quilts and super easy

Thanks SewCalGal and Electric Quilt for organizing this hop!
Very intresting – love all the variations with the HSTs
I think you definitely need to make a red/white quilt. What spectacular designs. Excellent tutorial for an apple core quilt designed in EQ. This really helps to plan out use of fabrics, shading and other creative designs. Thanks for sharing.SewCalGalwww.sewcalgal.blogspot.com
Oh I love the 3rd one, they are all great!
Fun quilt designs Bea and thank you for the tutorial on the Apple Core!
I haven't done a red and white quilt but I have a red white and black one in mind..
oooh! waiting to see what you go with x
Thanks for sharing many possibilities from "simple" blocks. I have yet to make a two color quilt, too. I think the red and white choice is absolutely stunning.
I'm enjoying this, and love the idea of the apple core block, planned with EQ7. Great hints. Thanks.
Very clever!! Great tutorial on making the applecores. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Wonderful lesson. Thanks for devoting your time to this challenge. I am eager to learn more about EQ7.
Fun to see applecore as a whole quilt. I drew a complete block in EQ with multiple cores in the block. That was fun!!
Great tutorial. Never would have occurred to me to use that method to make the apple core quilt. Very clever! Thanks for the great tutorial.
Thank you for sharing all of these variations.
Thank you. Isn't it amazing just what you can do with a bunch of HSTs?
I love all the variety that EQ can do. Thanks for the tut
Interesting ideas. A Red and White quilt is on my quilt bucket list.
Thanks for the tut.
