Do you remember back in April when I showed this picture of Jelly rolls and precuts I had lying around and how I planned a few things.
well the rainbow rolls I weren’t sure about the pattern I chose, then several quilty friends showed braided basket looking quilts and I thought that would be a great pattern for these!
BUT I changed things around, I decided to use the rectangle shape #8 from the 6″ QUBE set and cut out rectangles from the strips- I REALLY dislike the edges that are zig zagged on rolls like this!
I sorted in a nice ombre rainbow effect
and I also cut out white squares!
It was fun to sew together!
I added a wide white border as well and then waited for the right backing to come along.
The top measured 49″ x 64″
I finally quilted it recently!
The quilting design is called Calligraphy by Intelligent Quilting
and look at the backing! It was a Samoan sort of batik fabric I bought years ago on eBay (straight some the Samoan Islands!) and I found the bundle recently when I was cleaning up some old bins and thought I’d move it with my yardage fabrics, the fabric was washed AGAIN and is still a bit stiff, so I think it is a sort of batik, it has that feel anyways.
I have it listed here on Etsy
Love that bright quilt!
So bright and colourful. I hate the pinked edges as well.
Rainbow quilts are always a favorite.
Yes they are! Thanks
