Have you heard of this fun event yet? sponsored by Accuquilt, Moda and Baby Lock!
I signed up right away when I heard about making donation quilts and “covering the world” with them
If you follow my blog you might now I donate my quilts quite often- I make so many, I really need the shelf space! LOL and I have a few good causes I donate to!
I donated this pile of quilt to my church before Christmas, I believe this pile went to a local women’s shelter, so I tried to have some bright colors or girly colors and since it was Christmas time, I donated some Christmas ones too
Sometimes my quilts also go to a local pregnancy support center.
I really just bring a pile to our church once in a while and leave it up to our pastor’s wife to see fit where the quilts will be a blessing 🙂
All these are made with Accuquilt dies!
The top one is my pattern called “Esther’s Courage” I used fabrics from Connecting Threads
The 2nd quilt was a funky scrappy quilt I wanted to make with the glorified nine patch die and QUBE dies
The 3rd quilt is my “Stop N Go” Pattern, I made this sample when I was an ambassador for Island Batik of course made with QUBE dies
and the last one is my pattern called “Beach Bum” it’s a fun Accuquilt friendly scrap pattern!
I also donate to my local hospice at the end of year, I started donating to them when my neighbor lost her husband over a year ago while he was at hospice and because of Covid, there was no funeral for outsiders and they requested donations to the hospice so I emailed them about quilts and was shocked to know they go thru about 30 quilts a month!! That’s about 1 per day- how sad!!
I once long arm quilted a quilt for an organization who helps abolish human trafficking- especially from the southern border!
Read more of Accuquilt’s blog about quilt the world 2022- there’s giveaways too!! And find a cause or organization you want to donate to!
LOVE the secondary circles created in the GO! Cube quilt. All of them are beautiful.
My quilt guild donates 600+ quilts a year to various hospices, shelters, and veteran’s organizations. All are made from donated fabric and hopefully batting (we also buy very discounted batting from a manufacturer). The quilts are made by our members throughout the year and range in size from baby to double bed (most common being a lap size quilt). We also hold 2 Charity Quilt Days per year so we can sew together for this. The notes of thanks the guild gets are heartwarming and keep us going.
that’s awesome! I don’t belong to a guild anymore but my old one donated lots too, probably not that many because it wasn’t super big.
