It’s time for another block for the monthly rainbow QAL!
This month it’s PURPLE! – not a color I like too much and I rarely buy purple fabrics, so my stash is small in both dark and light purple, but I managed to put something together for this block 🙂
so grab your purple bins, both dark and light and then with the 8″ QUBE set (or whatever QUBE set you’re using for this QAL), grab dies #2, 3, 4 and 5
Because I didn’t have a lot of scraps, I had to swap some light and dark colors to make them fit die #4!
so it’s up to you what purple you want where, I’ll just say to pick 3 purple fabrics and the background white fabric 🙂
with purple A and B cut out 4 from die #4
with purple C cut out 4 from die #5
Then with the white background, cut out 5 of #2, 4 of #3 and 4 of #5
(#2 is 2 1 1/2″ cut squares, #3 is 4 7/8″ squares cut once on the diagonal, #4 is 5 1/4″ squares cut diagonally TWICE, #5 is 2 7/8″ squares cut diagonally)
Start by making 4 small HSTs with the purple and white
and start by sewing 4 sets of 2 different purple #4 triangles together (look at the block and lay out the pieces to decide which fabric goes where)
Then add the white #2 squares to the small HSTs and the white # triangles to the sets of #4 purple triangles
Then finish the block like this with the last #2 white square in the center
a fun and easy block to make!
