It’s time for another block for the QAL
This month we’re doing a RED block!
again the blocks are 10″ Finished and made with the 8″ QUBE set
and I’ll provide rotary cutting for that size, but you can just as easily make the block with a different QUBE set as I provide the die #s
First get out your red scraps (you can add some dark red/ burgundy too- I ended up not using that as I didn’t have a piece that fit and was big enough)
You’ll also use dies #2, #5 and #6
and I still have strips of the background white leftover from the last two blocks
Here’s what to cut:
With 1 red fabric cut 4 of #6 (you can use a directional print but this piece is on a diagonal so just watch out for that)- rotary cut (4) 3 3/8″ squares
With a different red fabric, cut 4 of #5 triangles and 1 of #2 square, those are rotary cut 2 7/8″ triangles and a 2 1/2″ square
With another red fabric cut 4 of #2, rotary cut 2 1/2″ squares
Now with white cut 4 of #2 squares (2 1/2″ squares) and 12 of #5 triangles (2 7/8″ triangles)
First sew the red #5 triangles to one side of the #6 squares (3 3/8″ cut) look at the finished block below if you used directional fabrics.
Then add remaining white #5 triangles and also sew the 4 red and 4 white squares together
Then sew block together like this with the remaining red square in the middle
Have fun! tag me on IG if you make the block 🙂
