PSA How to read my patterns

Some people have asked me how to read my patterns, because my patterns are “different” and often include LOTS of sizes!

so let me explain here

On the front page under the quilt picture is the Finished sizes (often 3 sizes!)

Then on the back under the yardage chart it tells you what QUBE set the pattern is written for- in this case the 8″ QUBE, which will make the 3 sizes shown. (Showing bits of random patterns)

AND of course I include rotary cutting for those 3 sizes as well, so you don’t HAVE to own the QUBE set at all to make the 3 sizes!!

BUT, if you DO have the 8″ QUBE set or maybe even ALL the QUBE sets then this ONE pattern can make quilts for 21 sizes!

(A QUBE set can make lots of blocks out of basic shapes and those basic shapes are just smaller or larger in the QUBE sets, so for my pattern, if it’s a four patch that’s maybe 8″ Fin, then it can also be 4″, 5″, 6″ etc. depending on the QUBE set)

Inside the pattern is a QUBE cutting chart first

(I’m showing a different pattern now so I don’t give away the whole pattern)

The chart shows what die # to use from the set (#1, 3, 4) in this sample, and how wide to cut a WOF then how many to cut out of each shape for the 3 sizes.

Then below the chart is the rotary cutting directions which are the same as the QUBE chart, in case you don’t have the QUBE set.

then of course there’s directions on how to put the blocks together and the final quilt

and on the last page, there’s the QUBE chart for the additional sizes mentioned on the back of the pattern cover!

(again I’m showing from a different pattern)

Because each QUBE set makes the same shapes but they finish different sizes, it’s easy to figure out how to make the same block in a larger or smaller QUBE size!

Just to show the Ohio Star block above, if it finishes 9″ that means that each square finishes 3″, and I know it means to use the 6″ QUBE set for that (the Ohio block is 1.5 x the size of the QUBE size) so if I would make it with the 4″ QUBE set, the block would finish 6″, if I used the 8″ QUBE set, the block would finish 12″, if I used the 12″ QUBE set the block would finish 18″.

So you can see that each of my patterns are very versatile!
