My online friend Turid at Den Syende Himmel
has been making selvedge pincushions for years and it got me into saving my selvedge edges too from fabrics! So finally my bin got too full that I had to do something, so I decided the other day to just sew them onto batting and maybe make a purse or something like that.
I sewed several BIG ones together then a few small ones, then I kept going on the small ones, also because I have a huge bin full of small batting scraps.
and then the small ones just MAGICALLY turned into pincushions also!!
I stuffed the snot out of them with fiber fill instead of crushed walnut shells and added my new labels and ladder stitched them closed, they were so much fun to make!!
Too bad I don’t host the pincushion swap anymore! I’ll find SOMEONE to give them too eventually 🙂
Very cute! I need to start saving my selvedges! I also need to get labels made – yours are great! Love reading your blog!
These are really cute, Bea!! I’ve never saved those edges, but do save batting and will have to save a few and make something with them!! How fun!
So cute! That was a quick way to make them, too. I have saved selvedges for quite a while. Not sure if I will ever get around to sewing something with them.
