When this month’s theme was announced, I knew what I would do- take the word “pillow” lightly…
You know me, what else is a pillow but SMALLER??
PINCUSHIONS!
I make lots of pincushions!!
So here’s the first two for this month’s theme!
I already showed the hummingbird one as it was for my pincushion swap partner for April.
These are made from blocks from Anita Goodesign’s prayer garden quilt pattern/ embroidery files.
It’s so much fun to just stitch out ONE or TWO blocks and turn them into pincushions.
First it’s stitched out including the fabric around the edges, then it’s trimmed.
and I add a piece of fabric on top right sides together (doesn’t really matter much with batiks) and I sew 1/4” all the way around but leave an opening at the bottom, trim the corners and turn inside out and press flat
Then stuff them and sew the opening closed.
I’ve made quite a few pillows with Island Batik over the years I’ve been an ambassador
here’s what I’ve made
and another for May
and a cat one from a mini block
That’s 9 pincushions (actually I think 10 I didn’t show one)
and 9 pillows (should make that 10 too, huh?) I might.. the month has just started
Beautiful work Bea! I really, really need to do some embroidery!
Lovely pillows! And in so many shapes and styles….an inspiration to me.
Love the pillows and the pincushions. pretty
Love your interpretation for this months challenge!!! I have not taken time yet to decide what I want to turn into a pillow.
Pretty pincushion – you have been busy.
