pineapple blocks mystery

A week or 2 ago Accuquilt did a video about scraps and showed the pineapple die and my friend Turid posted stuff about pineapple blocks too so it inspired me to get out my pineapple scraps and I sorted them my size- because I’ve made several others in the past, I had a bin of already cut pieces, and I counted the smallest pile and figured I’d have enough for 12 blocks, the only thing I had to cut out was the black center squares and the corner triangles, so I worked on these between projects!

when I got to the largest pieces and was adding them to the blocks I thought it was odd that I was almost running out, I had JUST enough, and then could add the black triangles, so I looked at them again and saw my “mistake”

I had added a round TOO MANY! but they FIT!?? the center square is supposed to be straight, not on point, oh well. it worked and I kept them that way, now the blocks are just a bit bigger than they are supposed to be- oh well…. I TOTALLY meant to do that 😉

I then used EQ8 to see what it would look like and if I should add a sashing or not, I kind of like it with the sashing as I’ve done several without, so I think that’s my plan!

  1. Love it – one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to use my stash for projects. I have the pineapple die and this is perfect! I’ve also been making scrappy blocks with my BOB dies and doing some collage quilting. And having a great time!

    1. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t know there was an Accuquilt Pineapple die. Adding this to my wishlist for sure. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Bea, just saw all your beautiful quilts on the Accu Quilt Tues show. They all looked so great. There is one I really want to try. Should have bought the pattern when it was on sale last week. Didn’t realize there was a deadline. :(. I guess I have to not read so fast, huh? It’s fun to say in my mind, ” I know her” when your stuff pops up, which is often.
    Congrats on the recognition.

Okay, now I have to add this one to my list….I was just in my sewing room trying to make heads or tails out of what scraps I have to work with….this may help eliminate the stash (not totally but could make a dent! Saw your donated quilts on the show today…just beautiful!

Love this pattern and your colors are amazing. Thanks for sharing!

  5. These blocks are so fun to make. I sew on paper, so no chance to do them bigger. But why not? I love to see how it looks like with a sashing.
