Picnic party quilt

When this blog hop was announced by Carol, I had one idea, but then JUJU designs sent out an email with a sale for this In-the-hoop embroidered table runner

and I knew I just HAD to have it and use my patriotic fabrics I had for my FQ club.

I printed out the first couple of pages of the pattern and cut about 1/2yd of each of the 6 fabrics as I wasn’t sure what I really needed.

Then I cut out the background pieces and planned where they should go so no two fabrics touch each other

and I added stabilizer to each and cut out batting and got ready to embroider!

Here’s the first few blocks

I forgot how long machine embroidery takes, BUT it’s SEW much fun and I can “set it and forget it” and sew on other things while the machine does it’s thing.

Here’s all the blocks done, I did change a few fabrics.

At this point I sewed the blocks together, which was actually tricky because it was quite bulky, then quilted it, in the ditch, which I haven’t done in a long time!!

and then trimmed and added binding!

Here’s some close-ups of the blocks, SUCH a cute design!

I finished it mid June, so plenty of time to get it ready for 4th of July! (Even though our kitchen is still a mess from renovations!)

Thanks again to Carol for hosting this hop!

  1. Adorable table runner! I love my embroidery machine that I can be stitching on that, and stitching on something else on another machine across the table! Great work!

  2. You really knocked this picnic challenge out of the park with this runner. It is amazing and perfect for a picnic inside or out…love it! Thank you for meeting the challenge and sharing this beautiful runner. xo

  3. You made a fabulous table runner. Love those fabrics and the addition of the embroidery was spot-on! It is so adorable and it’ll be such fun to use.
