It’s the first month of the PEANUTS BOM Quilt Along.
We’ll be doing 9 blocks total, each is 8 x 12”
You can find the patterns here and here for FREE!
Thanks to Alida at Tweety loves Quilting
This month we’ll be doing FRANKLIN, as he’s the easiest to do.
I pulled out my fabrics and found these and chose a pale purple for the background.
I printed out the pattern and rough cut them out and folded on all the lines.
Then rough cut the fabrics for each section and had my stitch length to really small (1.5 on my machine)
The first two pieces have to be right sides together with fabric #1 wrong side up and the paper section #1 covering the fabric and fabric #2 underneath, big enough to cover section #2 when ironed.
Try to have 1/4” seam allowance ( I just folded the paper back to show you but you SEW on the paper)
Then sew all the pieces on the line between 1 and 2 and trim the threads!
I ironed toward #2 and then folded back the paper between 2 and 3 and used this “add a quarter” ruler and trimmed the #2 fabric, this way it’s easy to line up fabric #3 behind it and sew on the line, continue with all pieces, them trim on the outside 1/4” line and either remove papers now and then sew together or sew together and then remove papers when the whole block is done- that’s a matter of preference.
Here’s my block that’s done
I then used COPIC fabric markers and drew in his features and hair and lines on the clothing.
While having the fabrics out for the block, I also cut 3-4 2 1/2” blocks of each fabric for the sashing part of the quilt, don’t know if I’ll use all of them, but it was easy to cut out now instead of later
I’ll wait to do a linky until next month, then you have a month to make the block and can link up!
And here’s the “plan” for the Peanuts characters, I did the order from easiest to hardest, based on how many sections the FPP were.
1. Franklin
2. Peppermint Patty
3. Marcie
4. Schroder
5. Linus
6. Sally
7. Charlie Brown
8. Lucy
9. Snoopy
That is sooooo cute.
I've printed off my pattern… just a few more things that have to be done first! 😉
Great block. I've decided to finish some of my UFOs. But I printed out the pattern, just in case.
This will be fun. I will be working on Franklin this week.
This is gorgeous – just when I've said I won't start any more new projects!! – maybe I'd beter pring it off, just in case…!
I am very happy to see the first block with a very cool PP tutorial!! And great idea cutting the sashing squares as you go with the same fabric used in the blocks!! Thanks for hosting the event! I will soon announce it on Fandom In Stitches as well!!
Looks like fun except I'm not a paper piecer. I printed the first pattern and will try.
Cute, cute!
Of course, I want all the patterns NOW!. I can find 6 but NOT Peppermint Patty, Marcie or Schroder. Are they still being designed or are they available somewhere that I haven't found? Since these are the next 3 in order, I thought they would be available.
Oh my so cute. #CreativeGoodness to the max.QuiltShopGalwww.quiltshopgal.com
