Have you started any Christmas projects yet?
I decided to FINALLY work on this irregular tree skirt I made maybe 2 yrs ago. I designed it in EQ and it was for a challenge about quilts without borders!
So while working on other blocks I made a scrappy backing and got it all on the frame
Kind of tricky since I had to pin everything and try not to skew it.
But once it was on the frame it didn’t take that long.
My original idea was to slice into the middle and cut out a circle then put binding on the whole thing. Now I don’t know if I should just leave it and bind the outside only, as a tree skirt it could be UNDER the tree stand instead of over it, and we have plastic trees so it’s not like it’s covering water…. gosh… I don’t know.
I quilted curves from corner to corner on the whole thing.
Then I went back and trimmed the whole thing with the ruler and rotary cutter, I didn’t cut all the way to the corner but left it and then came back with scissors and trimmed the corners.
Here it is all trimmed and ready.
And scrappy backing, all winter/ Christmas fabrics and I tried to use some “ugly” ones too. well they just didn’t match what I have here.
my “assistant” helped get the quilt off the wall.
couldn’t get it back up though
She is WALKING btw!! watch out world here she comes!!
and getting into trouble, see what she tried to stuff into the printer!?
nothing spilled
I finished another Persian star block
And another Women of the bible BOW- Mary who sat at the feet of Jesus (Martha’s sister)

Love your irregular tree skirt! I'm making a bargello one that is proving to be a bit of a challenge too :*) My how your little girl is growing!!! Seems like just yesterday she was born!
Super cute and the little girl is adorable and looks she has fun playing with fabrics.Have a great day!
I love your skirt and the Persian star. But how cute is your daughter!Lover from Amsterdam
Oh, what would you do without your assistant?I love that Persian star. Can't wait to see those blocks all together!
Looks beautiful and you have the cutest little helper!!
Beautiful tree skirt. Unless you have a very pretty tree stand, I would cut the skirt so it would go over the stand.Look out Mom, here she comes. LOL Looks like you're going to have your hands full just keeping an eye on Sonja. You're little baby is growing up.
Beautiful tree skirt but beautiful baby girl, she outshines all else
Gah! When you count down like that it freaks me out. So much to finish by Christmas.LOVE the tree skirt. I would cut it so it wraps around the tree:)
I love the tree skirt. It is amazing the beautiful things we can make that are quilted but not quilts. :)The baby is getting so big. Be careful with her adventures though, it can cost you money. I had a business when Tre (who is 16) was a toddler. I had bought my first laser printer and was so proud. At that time, a cheap model was $800 or so. Well one day I looked over and he had a Pepsi (don't know where it came from) and was pouring it in the paper slot that was on top of the printer. Needless to say, ruined.I do enjoy watching her adventures though. 🙂
Hey Bea, just checking to see if the "no reply" thing was fixed. Let me know please.
Love your tree skirt. Absolutely beautiful. SewCalGalwww.sewcalgal.blogspot.com
