One pattern tester is the Sandpiper Project

Here’s what Monique wrote to me (and I’m sorry I posted about it so late!!)

   I am writing you today as you have been an inspiration and so amazing, such kindness and generosity towards the children we serve, the organizations we partner with and our project, The Sandpiper Project. Because of you we have been able to raise over $63,000 (serving 9 charities) in just less than two and a half years.  So very grateful for YOU!

     I am reaching out to you today for a fun ask.  As you have been there from the start of our project, helping us gain knowledge, giving amazing guidance to create the best quilts and have guided us on many quilts to give comfort and JOY to so many children we would love for you to share with your readers of your blog & newsletter and followers on social media information about our Happy Bundles Charity Quilt Along and our project.

     This Quilt Along is such a wonderful gift! Participants generously donate for this charity event. It focuses specifically on Missy of The Little Green Bean’s lovely donation of her “Love You Bunches” pattern & quilters own, either newly purchased, or from their stash, fabric variations (scrappy or solids, or both!). All proceeds go directly to the Happy Bundles Foundation. – An organization that serves children diagnosed with cancer by delivering curated boxes of JOY to raise the spirits and allows children to be kids again during their treatments.  

     The participants are forwarded the pattern individually for all of the blocks and quilt measurements after donating directly to Happy Bundles.  We meet up in a Messenger group for assignments with tips, progress reports, photos and connections to be with everyone along the way. As with many QAL’s, we have broken up the pieces of this pattern, focusing on the 1/2 square triangles (I learned a great deal from you!), blocks and borders, allowing for generous time for all level of quilters-novice to experienced.  We want all to have a good time and feel JOY and connection.

     Our QAL just started February 14th and will continue on to the first week of May – still time to sign up as we are just getting started!  Just at the last installment week participants have an opportunity to make a choice: to sandwich and quilt their JOY to send to us to take with us for our bi-annual charity quilt drive to deliver to children’s hospitals, coinciding with my daughter’s oncology appointments, send their quilt top to us to sandwich and quilt for our quilt drive or keep their wonderful JOY for themselves.  

     We are so appreciative of any choice they make!! To be a part of the amazing community of quilters is so wonderful.  The generosity, support, kindness and quilt together fun is incredible.

     We would love to include so many in our QAL. We hope you have the opportunity to share with all to support such a wonderful organization. Your help to get the word out is so appreciated.
