Not really the first project of the year

At the end of the year, I was sorting thru my Island Batik Ambassador box and I found an unused jelly roll pack with matching yardage!

So I busted out my Strip therapy book. I love this book and have several projects bookmarked.

I picked this pattern called insomnia and the jelly roll pack is called Mountain Majesty

after cutting all the pieces I decided to NOT scramble them up, but instead to do more of a planned layout.

So I matched up 4 fabrics per block section.

-and I also decided to make it a bit smaller than the pattern.

Then I made the blocks and laid out a layout on my design wall

and sewed it goether

Then with the yardage that matched I planned what I’d use for backing and binding and then however much I had left I could use for borders

The top ended up being 38”x46”

so that’s waiting to be quilted now Smile

  1. Yay! You have a top done already and with hidden fabric you found. That had to be so much fun!

  2. I like how you arranged it your way! I am going to use up one of their jelly rolls too this week, not waiting for a monthly challenge-the IB stash is growing and I should use some up. Not complaining though, it's great!! I hope we hear soon if we got in for 2018.

  3. Wow! Island Batik fabrics are just too gorgeous and your quilt is stunning. Great beginning to 2018. <3
