I’ve been making the swoon blocks a lot lately and I finished the last of them recently!
(Ever since my vacation I’ve been able to schedule posts ahead of time- which is kind of nice!)
I couldn’t help myself with this background, hope she likes it
Here the pink/coral was sort of a directional fabric but I was able to assemble it so they all face the same way.
These 4th of July blocks were probably the most fun to make, as all the other 14 blocks had white/beige backgrounds, here she just wanted patriotic colors and it didn’t matter what color went where, can’t wait to see the rest of the blocks!
Laura has been visiting and doing the blocks too, here mine and one of hers together
I tried to make Laura’s blocks in secret, but sometimes it didn’t happen, but at least I picked out the fabrics first, or tried to, here she did pick the turquoise one.
The last block was one where the star and diamonds were MY choice, so that was kind of fun too!
Here’s all the blocks that I did.
all 16 blocks don’t even fit on the design wall!
The deadline is Sept 1st and it sounds like everyone is able to do it.
I’m glad mine are done, they were fun to make but 16 was a LOT!
I picked Christmas fabrics (one other person did too) but I don’t think I’ll make my own blocks, so I can just use the 16 blocks in a layout of 4 x 4 and maybe just add sashing and borders, we’ll see.
I came up with this layout in EQ7 it would be 82” x 82” when done with a 2” sashing and 4” border (each block is 2 x 4 in the border)
Sashing fabrics would be 1 5/8 or less
green in border would be 1yd
and red is 3/4yd
then plus binding (9 strips I think – 3/4yd)
What do you think??
comment if you are part of the swap and see your blocks – do/don’t like the blocks then I can re-make them.
