I’m sure you have heard/ read that Jan 1st Europe is charging an EU VAT tax to all sellers and it’s up to US to pay the tax in each country.

I just don’t know what to do or think about this!
I don’t sell much in my craftsy store, though I did reduce the prices to 99c for ALL my patterns during Black Friday and haven’t raised them back up, so if you want some of them, go for it NOW! because I will shut down my store on the 31st of December this year.
I also have an etsy store with some of my quilts and only sold ONE recently- my first sale EVER on there, so I’m not sure if I’ll keep that store or not, as I can change shipping profiles on there and not include international at all.
I do think craftsy should have a feature for us sellers that we can choose to sell to which countries now, sort of like etsy’s shipping profiles but they don’t and don’t take a stand and project or help the sellers, so they will lose a lot of sellers!
So if you want some of my patterns, get them now before it’s too late.
What a shame! I'm sure Craftsy will eventually address this issue; frankly I'm surprised they aren't already working on it. But then they don't charge for using their site to post patterns do they? Maybe they don't think it's worth the expense for them? Anyway – it's just a shame for all the small business people out there just trying to supplement income & share what they love 🙁
I wondered when this would happen. As a small business – even selling from a shop – I have to file and report taxes no matter where the item is sold. And yes, each has it's own form – not fun.
not only will the seller miss out but the buyer and craftsy too what a shame. I do not buy from USA as we have to pay customs duty and the post office also charge £8.50 fee to collect the customs duty.

I heard about this from another blogger this past week. It is unfortunate that the Craftsy website (and manybe there are others) is not looking at this issue like Etsy's "only sell to this place." I can understand the EU's stand in that in hard economic times they have to raise revenues from somewhere. In Michigan a law was just passed to begin collecting sales tax from internet companies that sell to Michigan residents whether they have a physical presence here or not. And this is in order to raise revenues. How sad that the small independent designers really are limited in where they can now try to sell their patterns. I wish you the best with your patterns.
