It’s time to sew the blocks together into a top!
Last week we sorted the blocks into light and dark- half and half.
Now lay out the blocks on your design wall and alternate a light and dark block and shuffle them around in such a way that the same fabrics are not close to each other. It’s not the end of the world if they are, but shuffling them around is more fun!
I like to add one block from the light, then maybe add block #4 from the dark pile and put it next to it, then maybe block #7 from the light pile and put that next to it, and so on….
Do a 4×5 or 5 x 6 layout
Here’s my layout, I tried to space out the yellows but also not have them be all spaced out, I think this works well.
and here’s my top all sewn together!
It now measures 48″ x 60″ which is actually a good size, I don’t have any yardage of the prints from the FQ bundle, but I could add a solid white or grey even or leave it and just quilt it like it is….
I just love the pop of yellow!
This is a terrific quilt! I have a lot of black, white and gray fat quarters I’ve collected to make a granddaughter a quilt. I like the punch of color too. It’s perfect for teens.
I’ve been meaning to send a comment thanking for all you do for the quilting and Accuquilt world. You info on Facebook and website (blog) have been invaluable.
thanks and please join the QAL!
