After talking on the FB ozark fabric group about a Quilt along.
I happily volunteered to be the hostess!!
A few years ago I taught a sampler class at the local community college so this is a design similar to that one- though I changed a few blocks around.
Blocks are 12” and it finishes at 52” x 66”
This Quilt along will last 7 months. Just in time for Christmas!
I’ll do a blog post ONCE a month on the 1st Wednesday and show you how to make TWO blocks. The last week will be for finishing.
This will be a great STASH buster but you’ll need yardage for the sashing and border OR you can shop at Ozark fabrics
I’m listing the yardage but I rounded up to the next yard. some only needed 5/8yd but then there’s room to change things around if you feel like it.
Maybe add another fabric or two!?
fabrics# 1-6 you need 1yd of EACH
# 7 for sashing 1 1/4yd
# 8 for border 1 1/2yd
Binding fabric 1/2yd
Batting 56” x 70”
Backing 58” x 72” or 3 1/2yds or SCRAPPY
Now I can’t even decide!
I really like this girly fabric and then the red dot for sashing
I threw in some yardage and some scraps
OR what about a winter themed one? yummy blues and whites would look cool. I know SOME ladies from the fabric group may do Christmas fabrics!
Who’s with me????
Go dig out your FUN fabrics and find some matches
(someone posted a hint that the DOTS on the selvage of the focus fabric shows the colors in the print and you can use those dots to match up other fabrics)
I'm with you girlie, but since I've chosen to do it in Christmas fabric, I may do something different than the little girl block.
I promised myself I wouldn't add another quilt to my many going right now. I WILL be following along though and I have before done the same thing and then hurried up to join in lol. It looks beautiful. And Belinda, if you read other people's posts, A tree in that block would make it work.
I love making blocks – so may make a few of each and then pass them all on to Sarah's group for their wonderful charity quilts.
Very pretty sampler quilt Bea. I like how you have such a variety in the blocks. Those will be very pretty no matter what the fabrics used will be.
Sounds like a fun project! Can't wait to play along!
I would love to join in, but I'm a little late…..can you tell me where I can get the directions for the May block (s)? Thanks
