I’ve been secretly working on another sampler with Accuquilt QUBE dies for a QAL for 2021!
This time I’ll offer it as a pattern before we start- it’s 21 pages!!
I have it listed for $5 until Nov. 19th
I asked the FB group a while ago about how many had some the old companion dies that included the drunkard’s path die and after many people said they DID, I decided to add it to this QAL.

Blocks can be made using the 6”,8”, 12” QUBE set from Accuquilt and companion sets (dies 1-8, plus 11,12,13,14,15,16) or rotary cut.
Directions for both ways are included! (You don’t NEED Accuquilt dies to make the quilt but it’s encouraged and easier)
Out of the companion dies, we’ll use dies #13,14,15,16 and the original #11 and #12 which are the drunkard’s path dies.
#13,14,15 are the triangle in a square and kite shape and side triangles, those dies are also sold individually, just get the die set that’s half of the QUBE set size, so 3″ for the 6″ qube set, 4″ for the 8″ Qube set etc.
Die #16 is the trapezoid die which you is also half the qube size.
The quilt can be made with other QUBE sizes as long as you have the matching drunkard’s path dies and companion dies with it.
For the 6″ QUBE you’d need the 3″ finished DP die which was part of the old Companion set
For the 8″ QUBE set you’d need the 4″ finished DP die
For the 12″ QUBE set you’d need the 6″ finished die which was part of the old Companion set
If you don’t have the DP dies, or any of the companion dies, the pattern provides templates!!
If you’re planning on using the 9″ QUBE set for this QAL you’d need all the dies as the pattern doesn’t provide templates for it, but EQ is saying the final size will be 67.5″ x 85.5″
and for fabrics I’d get 1 3/4yds of each of the 5 colors!
Then sample that I made is made with all scraps and pink solid, it’s a fun version!! So it’s fine if you want to do one solid or constant and do the rest as scraps, then I recommend that you only cut one block at a time which I will show when we start in January!
The QAL will start Jan 4th and I’ll show new blocks each Monday after that and you can all sew along 🙂
We’ll start with the smaller, easier blocks first.
I highly encourage you to buy the pattern– of course you can be “smart” and figure it out yourself, but I spend a lot of time planning this and writing the pattern, making the blocks, taking pictures and blogging about it, so I appreciate if you buy the pattern 🙂
And I’m an affiliate with Accuquilt so if you click on any of my links here and buy new sets I get a small commission and of course appreciate that too!!
Here’s a link to all the QUBE sets.
They is also a sale going on 😉
The most important dies are obviously the regular QUBE set (1-8) but then also the angles set (13-16) and if you can find the DP dies that go with it, get those too or use the templates provided.
Dear Bea, Thank you for doing the new 2021 QAL. I’m so excited. I would like to purchase the pattern for $5 but I can’t find it in the pattern list. Where is it listed on the website for purchase?
Looking forward to my first QAL with you. Would you please show the pattern in a variety of colors?
Great idea! I just updated the pattern page now with a few ideas.

I’m intrigued by this QAL. I don’t have the original #11 and #12 so would have to use templates. Hoping to find fabric in my stash, so glad it doesn’t start until January. ☺
