I just finished this quilt as a monthly challenge for Michael Miller Fabrics (This was supposed to be for May- but then Covid hit)
I turned this into a pattern and named it Lemon Layer Cake!
(The block is called chocolate cake so I changed it to Lemon Cake because of the fabrics!)
The fabric line is called “Limoncello” by Michael Miller
This Lemon Layer Cake quilt measures 65″ x 83″
and I used the 10″ QUBE set from Accuquilt to cut out the block pieces
I quilted it using a pattern called “Finesse”
Here you see the fabrics close up, the lemon details are just lovely
I ended up giving to a lady at our church last week, before the Labor Day weekend I got an email from our pastor’s wife that a lady Glenna in our church is turning 95 and due to Covid she doesn’t go to church now, so if any of us wanted to send her a card to cheer her up or show a little love, anything would be nice. I had just finished this quilt so I thought, why not mail it to her!
She got it and then called me and couldn’t thank me enough- in a nice southern way, it was really sweet!
Her son sent me this picture where they hung it on her railing!
It really made my day to get that call! I donate and give away quilts but often as anonymous so this was so nice!
A fun quilt to make and thanks to MMF for sending me the fabrics to make this!
