New Canning Jar quilt made with die from Accuquilt

Did you see the new Canning jar die from Accuquilt?

I used it to make this fun wall hanging!

I used selvedge edges for it, and it’s sort of trapunto!

First I cut out scraps of batting to fit over the canning jar shape on the die, then I got out my bin of selvedge edges

Then I started stitching them down onto the batting with a straight stitch and starting at the bottom because of the way the text is on the selvedge edges

I filled up 9 of these

Then laid on the die (one at a time) and cut them out

Then I cut out the rest of the pieces with lovely Fairy Frost fabrics from Michael Miller

I sewed them all together with sashing in-between

I think the jars are just such fun!!

around the sashing and inner border I added faint pinwheel blocks- the picture on Accuquilt’s website hardly shows these pinwheels, but I think they are really cute! and then another light blue border.

It’s rare that I do this, but I custom quilted this quilt

It’s fun to practice that skill after mostly doing computerized edge to edge quilting!

The quilt finished 39″ x 39″
