my Oath last Friday

Last Friday, as you know I became an American citizen and I was pretty much bawling by the time I got there!

My whole family was there, then a friend Danielle and her daughter was there and an elderly couple from church (who pretty much wants to be grandparents to our kids, they are so sweet!!)

The room was roped off, so guests sat in the back and the NEW Americans sat in the front, but at soon as we walked in the building, I got separated from my family and had to take my paperwork and green card and stand in a line to “check in”. I was already nervous and excited, but it wasn’t until almost the front of the line where I was up against a wall and I happened to look and there was a picture of Trump! that he would soon be MY president too! don’t know why I got emotional about that (obviously you know which political side I’m on, if you know me and he IS a big part of the reason why I was doing this!) at the front of the line, they took my paperwork and my green card and that was the last I saw of that! I was then told to enter the big room and they showed me where to sit.

We started with the star spangled banner, then an intro and presentation about what immigration is all about- the many faces of immigrants thru the years etc. and a presentation by the head INS guy’s family.

We were 64 new Americans and 34 countries represented (they listed them all)

Then we (new Americans) had to stand and say the oath of allegiance and then the pledge of allegiance (Thanks Danielle for taking this picture)

Dan of course got up next to me and filmed me (bawling thru it all AGAIN!!)

We then all had to go up in order and get our certificates of Naturalization! and at our seats were a small flag and an envelope with a passport application and other information too, and we also got papers to register to vote!

(Danielle got me a card and money too she said she wanted to get me a Joann’s fabrics card, but decided that this way I can get it from where ever I want….. ha ha…)

Danielle had to take Brandi back to school, so we went out for pizza with Ella and Barry and they also came to our house later for dinner for Hamburgers (that’s the most American thing I could think of!

I made this pincushion to remember the date Smile
