More RSC16 blocks, moving on to applique

Since my blue scrap bin seems to be bottomless, I decided to do some appliqued blocks too!

Here I used the school house Accuquilt die and cut it out after adding heat n bond to the back of a solid blue.

I also used the cupcake die and made a block with blues

While I was at it, I made these two owls for potholders for my pastor

When I gave away a quilt at our church’s Christmas party, he jokingly said that he never got a quilt from me (because I gave his wife one a few years ago- the big women of the bible quilt, remember?)

I know he cooks and their kitchen is blue and white, so why not make a set while I have the blue scraps out!?

I appliqued all 3 things, 3 different ways

The cupcake I did a triple sloppy line in blue thread and the darning/embroidery foot

on the school house I did a straight line with a standard foot

on the owls I did a button hole stitch with a standard foot (part of them I used variegated thread)

Here are the potholders done with a layer of insulbright and warm and natural cotton batting and then just turned inside out, I didn’t quilt them at all, just whip stitched the opening closed.

  1. Yummy looking cupcake and usually I avoid blue food. And your owl pot holders are adorable.
