More embroidering

I’ve been using the Embroidery machine a lot lately!

I remembered I had this snowflake file on the computer and decided to make a few. first I hooped 2 layers of WSS (water soluble stabilizer) but it would fall apart a little like this, though it didn’t damage it, just not very SAFE. the last one I did 3 layers, which is a LOT and that stuff is not really cheap!

and look it’s 22 min and over 15000 stitches, not really worth it to sell!

oh well…. I have a few, and we’ll see, otherwise I’ll keep them.

Of course I made more eyeglass cases too

Then I got these SLIPPER files from embroidershoppe.com

My first slipper fell off the hoop and my 6 needle machine is very tight, so the slipper top was too high and the force of the machine when the needle moved, pushed it off the hoop!

I was able to rip out the row and tape everything down instead like this.

and VOILA! a pair of 2yr old slippers for You know who !?

2014-10-08 007

with anti-slip fabric on the bottom (should have done the swirl in white thread, as that’s the only bobbin thread I have)

2014-10-08 008

they look good on “someone’s” feet Smile

I also got more fiber fill and made bigger owls Smile

here is the machine midway on a body- doing the eyes

2014-10-10 002

the smallest fit in a 4” hoop- it’s tiny!

2014-10-10 003

2014-10-10 004

not much taller than a spool of thread

2014-10-10 005

so is the mini mouse

2014-10-10 006

here’s the BIG owl in black and white and red eyes.

2014-10-10 007

I even made a NEST for it- a fabric wrapped corded basket.

2014-10-10 009

I made another mini owl but stuffed it with walnut shells as a pincushion, but I’d be sad to poke this little one!- but wait I did that with my other owls I made years ago!!??

2014-10-10 010

Here’s the collection so far.2014-10-10 008

Our neighbors saw these over the weekend and wanted an owl for their 9m old daughter Maya

2014-10-12 001

Originally they had wanted the left one but then when I said I could just make another one with her name on it, they picked that! (they also bought a bunch of eyeglass cases btw)

2014-10-12 002

and guess what!? I bought the bear file, it’s nice a “neutral” for either gender.

2014-10-12 003

These are the 8 x 12” hooped bears, first I did the Pooh one on the left and I don’t like it that much- oh well, now Sonja adopted the green one and sings TWINKLE TWINKLE little star to it Winking smile

2014-10-12 004

2014-10-12 005

These are the 7 x 11 bears, I kind of like the arms UP like this, looks odd in the picture but in person they are nicer.

Even though they are totally different than the pictures from dolls and daydreams, they are cute in their own way Smile

and all 4 together

2014-10-12 008

3 of the smaller ones

notice the right black one? well I wasn’t paying attention to the machine and forgot to trim the white felt for the nose and it stitched on top of it, so I figured I could just trim around it, looks kind of cute!

so not all mistakes are bad!

2014-10-14 001

As soon as I finished sewing the one with the blue belly together, Sonja took it to compare stars!

2014-10-15 0012014-10-15 002

the middle bear uses island batiks!

2014-10-15 003

9 all together

2014-10-15 004

I was playing around with containers and how to display things, I think this looks better for the eyeglass cases ( just need to make more I guess to fill it up)

2014-10-16 001

and this was a baby bassinet that I’ve lately only used for Sonja’s toys, I raised up the back a little, maybe I should life the front some more too.

I have my business card tied around each one with string and on the back it has info that it’s made using dolls and daydreams patterns and then the prices.

Here’s the picture I sent to chatham marketplace for the craft show.

I’m starting a batch of pincushions now Smile

– not too many, as they are very specific to sewers/quilters, so I don’t think they will sell well, but worth a try!

You have been so busy! Love the little slippers and all the creatures!

  2. Wow, you've been busy, but all your projects are lovely. Those slippers are so cute. Where were you able to find the anti-slip material? SewCalGalwww.sewcalgal.blogspot.com

  3. The black one with the untrimmed nose felt could easily be a raccoon with only a change to pointy ears. I like him best.

  4. Crickets Corner

You are just having to much fun but everything is just too cute. Love those slippers.

  5. You are producing a lot lately and I really hope the show goes well. I'll be interested to see what the new pincushion design is.

  6. I love my embroidery machine, too. I've had one now for about 7 years and I still find myself 'watching' cuz it's just soooo cool!! Not sure exactly which water soluable stabilizer you are using but it looks like Sulky Solvy or Super Solvy. Have you ever used Aqua-Magic or Aqua-Magic Plus? I find it's a much better stabilizer for hooping. It acts like and even looks much like fabric. You might still need two layers of stabilizer but you will not have tearing away like you showed with the snowflakes. Try it, you'll like it!! 🙂

Everything is so cute Bea and I'm sure you'll do well at the show! I didn't realize how small the little owl and mouse were!
