I’m so ahead of blog posts that this was done in early May, I was still waiting on two fabric orders from connecting threads, and my shelves of yardage are really empty! In an earlier post I showed how I dug into my precuts, then I also found this small pile of squares and they weren’t a charm pack, but was bigger and fewer of them, so I first counted how many I had of each one and this floral had the most, then I was thinking about a pattern for that and remembered it’s been ages since I did a Disappearing nine patch quilt (D9P)
There were 20 squares of the floral and 4 of 4 prints except one where there were only 3 so I cut 4 out of my own scraps
I decided to trim them down to 5″ squares (or maybe it was the 4 1/2″?) and I also added white squares, so I had 5 sets for nine patches and if those are cut into 4 sections it would be 20 blocks, so a 4 x5 layout!
I decided to rotate the floral prints
then quickly sewed them all together
then trimmed down the middle (now I’m pretty sure I trimmed to 4 1/2″ squares as it was easy to find the middle as the white square was now 4″- I can see it on the mat too)
Then I played with block layouts on the wall and decided on a diagonal design
I added a white border and a large yellow border from a bit of yardage
I quilted a design called “bauhaus baby” in yellow thread and added yellow binding too
It measures 32″ x 38″
I’ll donate this quilt eventually, it was fun to make but I’m not really loving it, but it’s done and it’s fine…..
Well done. It’s bright and colourful.
