I’ve been busy making the women of the bible quilt top!
I decided to embroider the names below in the sashing…
As I was sorting them and getting ready for names I realized I had one person twice – the 2nd block was an alternate block and then the last block in the series was the children of Israel.
So I looked back thru the studies and found some “alternate” blocks that Carol had shown.
This was Leah
And Queen Vashti
So here’s how I embroidered the names!
First I cut out 2” x 8 1/2” kona white cotton- 54 of them
I found that I had a roll of stabilizer that was not fusible and wanted to use that, so I cut strips roughly 4-5” wide and maybe 12” or so long?
With the embroidery hoop template I marked the center with a small X with a frixion pen
then I used temp spray adhesive and sprayed the fabric strip- after marking the center of that one too and since the hoop can do 5 x 7, the hoop was bigger so it fit the 8 1/2” strip perfectly
then embroidered the name
trimmed away the stabilizer- I know that maybe it will still show thru even after it’s quilted, but I don’t think it’ll be much
All the blocks are labeled and ready, now a “pain” was the adhesive was still on the strip and would stick to the machine foot so I had to go really slow, but managed

YAY! the main part is done!
Here’s the top WITH the outer border
I decided to make a scrappy binding for it and I ended up ordering a wide backing from connecting threads and a softer batting, should be coming soon in the mail 
Then I already started using the scraps!
I made some cute fabric bowls- ready for the studio tour is a little over 2 weeks!
I want to make this quilt, but more importantly go through the study with everyone. I think it is so interesting. Hopefully I will be able to do that when it restarts in January. Great job.

It turned out lovely. I really like that you added the names to the sashing. Makes the overall theme of the quilt have more meaning.

I love the way your have labeled them! I know several people who have made the quilt and they all forget which block was which. I've taken the study several times and have not finished all the blocks….that's OK though, it's wonderful to follow along.
